This year has been such a busy year that I am so very far behind that I’m not sure I’ll get caught up before the new year begins. Since April we have spent a lot of time on our property on Misty Bay, clearing land for building, creating a beach for swimming, cutting/splitting fire wood for the winter, and just generally enjoying ourselves.

In the last four  months we’ve spent about three months digging, cutting, hauling, fishing, swimming, and of course laughing at our dogs’ antics.

Black-Capped Chickadee with dog hair for nest lining

No not that season, the other season, the one where it’s warm and there is a lot to do in the great outdoors. Summer, that is. The time of bright coloured flowers, spending hot lazy days in the pool, adventures with the camera and making progress on our building project at Misty Bay. The birds are twitterbated and building nests, the flowers are starting to bloom, the rivers are running free and sun is warm and welcoming.

I haven’t had much time online the last week because hubby has been on holidays, and that means taking time to spend with family. We’ve put quite a few miles on our sleds this week enjoying our new snow and the beautiful weather. We also had to make a trip out to camp to bring in more fire wood, managed to get the tractor stuck in the process though.

This is a map of the trip we took on Wednesday this week:

This route was from our place to the kid’s place. From there down the power line to Red Deer Lake Road. Red Deer Lake road to a trail in to Nepewassi Lake. Down Nepewassi Lake to the power line to Elbow Lake. Up Elbow Lake to the power line to Red Deer Lake Road, back to the kid’s place. Then home for dinner. About 60 miles round trip.

We went out with the kids yesterday and took advantage of the fresh powder we got over the last week. We had an absolute blast and I got some really good shots of the guys taking jumps with their sleds. I think my son-in-law may have even caught one or two of me jumping one of the snow banks, and of course hubby tried really hard to get some air with his big ole sled, the operative word is ‘tried’. lol

This first one is of my son-in-law with his newest sled, a Skidoo MXZ, that he’s spent a lot of time on to get it in really nice shape and looking spiffy.

I haven’t had a lot of reading time the last few days so I’m a little behind on posting. I decided, in the interim, I’d let folks know what is coming in the next few weeks. I have a few more books that I have to review.

Currently I’m reading Slow Curve on the Coquihalla by R.E. Donald and will be posting my review as soon as I’m finished. So far I’m really enjoying the book.

Then I have an author interview and book review for Letters In Cardboard Boxes by Abby Slovin. I’d had this book on my wish list for a while when the author contacted me so I jumped right on that one. Woohooo!!  lol

Coming quickly after that is a guest post (an my review I hope) by author Emily Ward. She’s going to tell us about her upcoming books and their release dates and all kinds of fun stuff.
